Solnechnogorsk Metal Mesh Plant was founded in 1927 and specialized in metal gauze production. By the workers' request, in 1929 its personnel was named after the first chairman of the Central Committee of Metalworker Trade Union, Ivan Ivanovich Lepse. The enterprise comprises five principal factories and 18 auxiliary services and workshops, which make it possible to make metal gauze out of low-carbon and stainless steel wire with the mesh range from 0.04 to 250 mm, wire and consumer goods. The steel-wire sector of the metal-braiding workshop produces wire, which serves as the raw material for producing wire, woven, welded and twisted gauzes. These gauzes are made with the use of high-performance semiautomatic equipment in the metal-weaving and metal-braiding workshops.
