Adds
TEX-E® Triple Insulated Winding Wire for Switching Transformer

8, 2006 -- Furukawa
America Inc. has announced the expansion of its electronics
products to include TEX-E® triple insulated winding wire,
a key component in the manufacture of compact power supplies
and transformers for computer and electronics equipment.
The ultra-thin, heat-resistant and
high-efficiency TEX-E wire can reduce the volume and weight
of switch mode power supplies (SMPS) and switching transformers
by about 50
percent -- a valuable design improvement in light
of today’s continual downsizing of micro, hand-held and
notebook computers and electronics.
In addition, TEX-E wire helps to
lower transformer manufacturing costs by eliminating the need
for interlayer insulation tape or barrier tape. Such tapes
are required by IEC60950, an International Electrotechnical
Commission Safety Standard for Information Technology Equipment.
TEX-E wire easily meets this standard with its copper conductor
and three insulation layers of solderable, heat-resistant resin.
“You’ll find Furukawa
TEX-E wire in the transformers for hundreds of products including
battery chargers for digital cameras, video recorders, mobile
phones and PDAs; in the SMPS for LCD and PDP monitors, printers,
and toy and game machines; and in AC adapters for personal
computers,” explained Ito Masahito, TEX-E wire sales
manager.
Manufactured by The Furukawa Electric Co. Ltd,
TEX-E wire is available in wire sizes ranging from 0.20mm (approximately
#32 AWG) to 1.0mm (approximately #18 AWG). Safety standard
certifications earned by TEX-E triple insulated, reinforced
winding wire include UL1950, UL1446, IEC60950 and IEC60065.
TEX-E is rated 1000Vrms maximum working voltage.
